EverQuest 2 Insider Guide – 9.1.1. Levels 1 – 15 in 15 hours

April 24th, 2010
Qeynos
If you are still on the Island of Refuge, stay there until you cap out on experience (that’s
at level 6 and 220% – which is already 20% into your 8th level). You will level twice when
completing your citizienship quest. At level 8 head over to Castleview Hamlet and zone
into Oakmyst Forest. Keep walking straight from the zoning and up the small hill (where
the road foarks). On top of the hill (next to the rope bridge), you will find the Mystail
Matriarchs. They are level 5 with two up-arrows. Two of them may also be found on the
road right below the ridge. They can be soloed by any class/race at level 8 (with
apprentice 1 spells/skill) and give you 5% of experience per kill – 20 kills and you level
up. With their fast spawn rate you can kill them non-stop.
Do your class quest and head back to Oakmyst Forest.
Go kill the Frogs with 2 up-arrows. They are doable by everyone, need a LITTLE
upgraded skills if you are a melee char though. Get your basics to app3 for this. At level
12 they turn grey. Head to the Oakmyst Defender (you will need a set of good armor for
this. So either quest for it or buy it, see below for cash), then at 14 to the great bears and
if you feel like staying longer… at level 15 the whisps will do.
All these mobs are ++ mobs. So they were meant for a group. But they ARE doable solo
if you take them when they are almost grey. No other zone offers so many different
levels of ++ mobs. Also you will find quite some chests with good vendor drops and
artisan books / adept 1s you can sell or use your own. A lot of cash and fast experience
is to be made here.
Freeport
The above mentioned routine works as well for Freeport chars if you decide to do the
Betrayal Quest – it will still be good experience. However, for Freeport there is a fast
leveling routine as well, but it will kick in at a little later point.
One general experience rule is to go for green and blue ++ mobs if you are solo fighting.
In Freeport you will find the bulky shrine sifters a rewarding experience when coming
from the Isle of Refuge (that’s preferably at level 6 and 220%). They are single level 6
melee mobs that can be found through-out the Sunken City zone. The next double
modifier mobs come at level 14 in the form of grove whisps (located on the left and right
side of the road about 300 yards north of crossroads in the Commonlands). They are
quite tough for their level range (13-14) and you might want to try them together with a
partner first. It’s a good idea to pick up a quest from Arconicus at the crossroads first. He
will ask you to kill 10 grove whisps and 10 zombies in Fallen Gate. The reward is the
worn vial of wisp dust (a caster necklace).

EverQuest 2 Insider Guide – 8.4. Guilds

April 23rd, 2010

To create a guild, you need to do the following. You must speak to a guild registrar. The
registrar is located in The Freeport Observer in Freeport, or The House of Lords in
Qeynos. The following requirements must be met in order to form a guild:
Six un-guilded players present and grouped together
60 silver

8.4.1. Leveling up your guild and gaining status points
First off, you gain status points by doing writ quests or completing heritage quests. If you
hit U, you will notice your guild has an experience bar just like you do. When you do writ
quests and contribute stats points to the guild, that’s where it will show up.
As your guild gains new levels, new prestige items will be available for you to buy. Some
things such as high end houses require a certain guild level. Hitting P will bring up your
Personal Menu and shows your status points.

Writ Quests are handed out by the following people:
South Freeport – Squab Kalina
North Freeport – Convert Y’ral
West Freeport – Trooper Bonesaw
North Freeport – Neophyte Jhanov
North Qeynos – Caretaker Nogfizzle
South Qeynos – Pupil Adept Wazzlefop
North Qeynos – Guard Williamson
The Elddar Grove – Wanderer Greencoast

EverQuest 2 Insider Guide – 8.2. Horses

April 22nd, 2010

Here are some things you should know about horses:
? First of, horses can be bought in North Qeynos and North Freeport in the stables.
They range in price from 2 platinum to 9 platinum, so it will probably be quite
awhile before you can afford one.

? A lot of people wonder if their horse can die… the answer is, no, your horse is
just essential an animated run buff and as such it cannot be damaged or killed.
Also note that you can’t once you buy your horse it’s yours for life unless you
delete it. Horses can not be traded to people or be resold to vendors.
? Devs have disabled people from being calling mounts in the city. You also should
know you can’t call horses in dungeons either.

EverQuest 2 Insider Guide – 7.4. Zone Instancing

April 21st, 2010
If your looking for Private Adventure areas (Instances) do the following: To obtain entry
to one of these areas, try hunting the creatures near the entrance. They will drop
items/keys that will allow you inside. Once you obtain the entrance key, you will need to
recruit a group of stalwart companions to assist you before you explore!
Antonica – Firemyst Gully: A Foul Wind
Commonlands – The Bloodskull Valley: The Training Grounds
This is how instances work
Instances are temporarily one-time zones created by you and/or your party. They will
last only as long as you are in the instance or your group members are in it. They are
created for the sole purpose of your privacy so every mob in the zone can be killed by
your group and you don’t have to worry about other people invading your spawns. There
are a few instances such as the Antonica/Commonlands that everyone can zone into,
these are not private instances.
Most people feel the disadvantages of instances outweight the old way of 1 big zone.
Advantages
? All the mobs in the zone belong to you and your group
? Always something for you to kill, no more camped zones.
Disadvantages
? Long loading times
Wait timers (some instances have timers before you can go, so you can only go into that
instance once every 8 hours. This is to prevent people from zoning in and out non stop
to farm named all day.

EverQuest 2 Insider Guide – 7.3. Quest FAQs

April 21st, 2010
How do quest updates work?
Quest updates work in 3 ways which are described below.
You are told to touch/pickup/break etc something.
To get these quest updates you need to find the coffin, jug, box or whatever it is that
you’re supposed to interact with and right click it. You should see examine which will
start the quest dialogue you need. 99.9% of the time you won’t see the actual items in
your inventory – they will automatically be placed in your quest journal.
You are told to kill a certain number of NPCs.
This one is simple: Just kill the npcs you need to kill. The nice thing about these quests
is your whole group (If they have the same quest or quests on the same mob) will all get
updates. You should always get updates on this type of quest.
You are told to kill a certain amount of npcs for a certain item.
This one is the same as above only you may not always get updates. When you do get
updates though your group members should also get updates at the same time.
How do I find quests?
Talk to all the NPCs in every zone you explore. Most npcs will try to get your attention
somehow, be it through speech or waving at you or whatever.
Where do I get the citizenship quest?
From a sign near the gate doors to the inner city.
Why don’t I get any of the tokens I need for the citizenship quest?
You must examine the scroll that you were given and click on it to accept the task to
have the 5 tokens drop.

EverQuest 2 Insdier Guide 7.2 Login Issues

April 20th, 2010
If all your characters are gone…
In most cases your characters are not gone, the game world they belong to has most
likely just crashed and needs to re-synchronize with the other servers. They usually will
be back rest assured.
If you’re getting stuck at “creating entities”
Check the main launcher screen and look for the message “All servers are up except…”
in the main update area. It might be possible that the server is down.
If you can’t login because the launcher keeps saying you have an active
character in the world.
Wait a few minutes and try again. If this doesn’t work close the launch pad and re-open
it.
If you get the message “network error” while trying to log in.
Check your connection. If your connection is okay, chances are high that the login server
is down. This means you can’t log in.
If you crashed to the desktop/login.
The zone is temporarily down (you should get a message saying this when you try to log
in). It should be up again in a few minutes.
If you keep getting the message your characters are stuck in the world.
If you have time to /petition and fill out a ticket then that’s what you should do. If you
don’t have the time to wait for a gm response, you can also use /kill to get unstuck.

EQ 2 Insider Guide – 7.1 General

April 20th, 2010
These are some common FAQ’s.
How do I get rid of this quest?
Open up your journal and highlight the quest. On the bottom of the journal you will see
delete. Click it.
Can I sell offline via an NPC vendor?
Currently, no.
Why am I am stuck at level 6?
You have to complete the citizenship quest in your city. If you’re still on the isle of refuge
you will have to leave to your new city and start the citizenship quest.
How do I get to my location?
Use the command /loc or hover your mouse over the compass window. This returns
three numbers:
The first number is X the second Z the third Y.
x: direction east-west (west is positive)
z: height
y: direction north-south (south is positive)
How do I open a new chat window?
Right-click on a current chat box and select “Add New Chat Box”.
How do I add/remove channels and text that goes to a specific chat box?
Right-click on the chat box you want to modify and select Chat Options.
How do I send a message on a specific chat channel?
/1 /2 /3 /4 /5 etc
Why can’t I use more than 12 hotkeys?
You can use more: Click on the arrows near the number left of the hotbar to switch to
another hotbar. You can also press Shift-1 to bring up hotkey bar 1, Shift-2 to bring up
hotkey bar 2, etc. The hotkeys for the 10th, 11th and 12th button on the hotbars are 0, -
and =. As you can see, there are 10 hotbars with 12 hotkeys each, so you can define
120 hotkeys. If you want to make a new hotbar or chat window right click on the hotbar /
chat window and click create new.
I saw something on the ground with a “?” above it…
It’s a quest item for a collection quest. Pick it up. Most collection quests are not too
rewardng and a waste of time, but the seashell on is worth completing it. Please look it
up in the newbie section for a detailed description.
I saw an evil race guy walking in Qeynos / good race guy walking in
Freeport! Is something wrong?
Nope…you just saw a guy who did ‘The Betrayal’ quest and now works for the other side,
so to speak. It is a long, perilous quest and definitely not for the newbies, so don’t think
about starting it until you are well in your teens. You will find a detailed description of the
quest in the Betrayal Quest chapter.
Can I go back to the Isle of Refuge after I leave it? I did not finish that
quest…
No. If you left to early …oh well, there is better stuff to do in Qeynos / Freeport.
Where is zone / landmark X?
Press Ctrl+W to bring up your waypoint window. This window lists the most important
landmarks in your zone, including exits to adjacent zones. Click your landmark and a
yellow trail (the so-called wisp) will appear, leading you in the right direction.
How do I ride the griffons?
Head to one of the big wooden towers in the zone. Climb the towers. You will notice it
has 3 platforms. Two of these are landing platforms (if you enter them, you will get a
message saying that you’re standing on a landing platform). The remaining platform is
the platform for take off. Run up to the platform, you should get a message popping up
asking you were you would like to go. If you don’t, just back up and try again, it may take
multiple tries! It can take quite some time for the take off message to pop up if the zone
is lagged. Just keep entering/leaving the platform until you get a message. If the griffon
doesn’t appear after you have picked your location, you might need to relog and come
back in.
I get a message saying my inventory is overflowing
Open your Inventory window. In the middle of your screen you will see an icon. Click on
it and move the items to your bags after you have made room for them. The overflow
message will disappear automatically.
Why do I have or see big pink boxes on my friends or in place of NPCs?
Again… bug placeholder. This time it’s for a model or a piece of armor. If you see one it
should be /bugged.
What is that green monster thing in place of my spell / combat art / picture
of a weapon / item?
It’s a bug placeholder for the item/spell etc. /bug it.
This quest is broken. The art is broken. I don’t think it’s working as
intended…
/bug it. The more you bug the sooner things get fixed.
Why do I lag in the cities?
This mostly means that your graphic settings are too heavy. Press Alt+O to bring up the
Options menu and then check out the section on performance.

EQ 2 Insider Guide-6.6.2.Here is a breakdown of th

April 19th, 2010

Tier I
Locations: Isle of Refuge, both ruins, graveyard, Oakmyst Forest etc
Common Items: Roots / Tin / Lead / Elm / Tubes / Salt
Rare Items: Bronze Cluster / Lapis Lazuli / Yarrow / Alder / Pepper
Tier II
Locations: Commonlands and Antonica
Common Items: Tuber / Turquoise / Maple / Electrum / Iron
Rare Items: Blackened Iron / Coral / Silver
Tier III
Locations: Thundering Steppes and Nektulos Forrest
Common Items: Gold Cluster / Agate Geode / Carbonite Cluster / Belladonna Root /
Severed Ash
Rare Items: Palladium / Steel Cluster / Jasper / Severed Fir / Dandelion Fiber
If you know what you want to make and have gone out and gathered the required
materials, you are ready to craft. First off, fuel, such as coal, can be found downstairs
from a merchant that stands right beside the bottom of the stairs near the entrance to the
Alchemy area. There is only one merchant in the trade skill instance.
When you have everything you need, head down to the crafting station that you need to
use and pick one, all the forges are the same all the chemistry tables are the same etc.
Target the crafting station and hit B again before clicking on the create button.
This screen is pretty easy to understand. It just lists the ingredients clicking on change
will allow you to change them. Before you hit begin, hit K on your keyboard and go to the
trade skills section, leave this open
As it starts to craft, you will notice symbols along the bottom. Just find the same symbol
in your spell book and click it. It’s simple as that.
Important Note: This may be a bug and most likely is. But you can exploit it and make
great use of it. A negative event that you have to counter will happen. But it does NOT
matter at ALL what you counter it with. Even if your used counter does NOT have the
actual event in its description.
This means you can always counter with the most profitable reaction, resulting in a
better result. No need to react with something that hurts your durability or your progress
chance significantly! Just use something that raises your gain by a bit and doesn’t hurt
you.
Also: You can use those “reactions” whenever you use the skill. Do not wait for an event.
Use your good reactions so they are up constantly. This means you will not get as many
bad rounds and every round will have the benefits of your “reaction”. If you fail to do so,
your crafted item may turn out worse or you make take damage. Yes, you can die while
crafting.
There are 10 bars shown while crafting. 5 green, 5 blue ones. Green bars are durability
while blue bars are your progress. The very top 2 bars is your overall progress/durability.
The second, third, fourth and fifth are durability/progress for different qualities of what
you’re making.
The first quality is Crude, the second quality is shaped, the third is normal, the fourth is
pristine. If you fail too many times you may not be able to make certain qualities of
whatever you’re crafting for that crafting sessions. So if you lose too much durability you
may not be able to make pristine items, if it keeps going down you will lose the ability to
normal then shaped etc. If you fail this much you may want to restart the crafting session
unless you’re just crafting for experience, in which case just let it finish.
The fastest way to level up when trade skilling, is to do a lot of easy subcombines while
you still get decent exp. They give less experience per combine, but are A LOT faster.
Afterwards you turn on to FINISHING products as they give the best experience per bug.
A nice tip to get started: Tin Spikes
Believe it or not, but they give 2% exp per combine even at level 9… and give good exp
even at level 11. Seriously, if you want to relax a bit while leveling use this route. They
never fail. They never trigger events you have to react to and they sell for EXACTLY as
much as you pay for the components (unless they turn out to be crude, which is really
rare!)
The best way to make money when trade-skilling is to make Apprentice 3 spells. These
are always hot sellers and generate nice, solid revenue. If you manage to find a few Tier
2 rares such as silver or black iron and have bought crafting books that teach Adept 3
recopies, you can make these for a very large profit. Backpacks also give some nice
rewards. Pristine backpacks have 6 slots and 10% weight reduction!

EQ 2 Insider Guide-6.6.The trade skill system

April 17th, 2010

6.6.1. Basics
Trade skill systems in most games usually lead to making large amounts of money and
in EverQuest 2 it’s no exception. If you enjoy trade-skilling or handle large amounts
repetitive tasks and invest some of your money it will pay off big time. You should do
guild quests as you level up and go out to gather resources(since some of the guild
quests require you to gather resources you wont use anyway) since they will provide
small experience and money boosts. However they are not worth doing for just money,
most of your money is going to come from selling to players.
The breakdown:
First off, if you’re on the Isle of Refuge you can craft in Malvoncis’s Tower Cellar
instance. If you have already reached your home city you will need to join a general
crafting guild. Just hit M and look on your map for places with the names like “The
outfitter of Marr” for example. Head over to that and talk to the npc at the entrance. If it’s
the general crafting guild, the npc will let you join them. When you zone in talk to the
main npc behind the desk and accept a quest from him. You will have to go out and
harvest all your materials anyways, so you might as well do the writs for status with the
guild so you can gain standing and make money.
Second, to pull up all your recipes hit B on your keyboard. This should give you a list of
everything you can make. Just like spells/skills you have to buy books to upgrade what
you can craft as you level up.
Recipe: The item you can make. Right click on it and hit examine to see what is required
it will also show what crafting station you need to use. (Forge, wood working table etc)
Difficulty: This is how hard the item is to make. The harder it is the more likely you are
to produce lower quality items when crafting, but you gain more experience when
crafting higher level items. I’d suggest when exping you craft the highest you can that
you as long as you don’t fail completely all the time.

EQ 2 Insider Guide-6.5.2.Spell and skill upgrades

April 15th, 2010

What does “Apprentice I” mean? This has to do with how spell/skill upgrades work in
EverQuest 2. Not only do you get new spells/skill but you can and should upgrade them.
Apprentice 1: You are granted apprentice 1 spells/skills when you skill/level up.
Apprentice 2: These can be bought from local merchants in your starting city. I would
recommend you don’t buy this and skip to apprentice 3 spells unless you can’t find a
sage to make the apprentice 3 skills/spells you need.
Apprentice 3: Those are player crafted ones. They are reasonably cheap for crafters to
make so they are not too expensive. You should buy these and skip Apprentice 2 spells
if you can.
Adept 1: These are dropped by npcs/mobs, and are fairly common.1-30 Adept 1’s sell
for around 20silver to 1 gold. If you can afford to buy these, they are worth it. It’s not
likely you will have a whole bunch of spells higher then this for a long while.
Adept 2: They are currently not in the game. As stated by a dev in beta, these will be
quested versions.
Adept 3: These are made by spell-crafters that acquired rare crafting books which hold
the required formula (Schoolar, Sages). They require rare harvest materials, such as
silver (harvested from stones, tier 1 stones for 1-9spells, tier 2 for 11-20 etc.). These can
be pretty costly, upgrade to them when you can afford them.
Mastery 1: These are very rare and only drop from boss mobs such as bosses in Cazicthule
and Everfrost. If you manage to get your hands on one of these, expect to make a
lot of money.
Mastery 2: Epic like quests they said… and who knows what the Devs planned. Either
way, they did not make it into the game yet. The fact remains: It was stated that they will
be quests. And Epic ones.
Mastery 3: Ultra-rare and crafted. At least that’s what was said from the Devs. No one
ever found anything ultra-rare. Neither the needed books with the formulas, nor the
components. Not in-game maybe, or really rare.
Mastery 4: These are the Artifacts of EverQuest 2. They drop only once in a lifetime and
only from 4x group bosses. Originally the Devs even wanted only ONE copy to exist on
every server. This should give you a feeling how rare these will be. They lifted the limit to
4, so maybe we can see a hand-full in a year or so.
As a quick side note you can and should skip spell generations if you can. (e.g. when
you gain a new apprentice 1 spell when you level) Instead of buying an apprentice 2
spell from a vendor, buy your Apprentice 3 spell from a crafter. In fact, you should just
skip the Apprentice 2 all together and buy the Apprentice 3 spells.
